Arthur Taylor Prescott (1863-1942) graduated from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La., in 1884. He became commandant of the student cadet organization at the University of Virginia in 1887, the first president of the Louisiana Industrial Institute at Ruston in 1894, and professor of government at Louisiana State University in 1899. Simeon A. "Alex" Box was born in Quitman, Mississippi, in 1920 and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1942, where he played both baseball and football. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the Distinguished Service Cross for his service with an Engineer Regiment in Algeria.
